Allamakee County
Founded in 1847, Allamakee County is located in the northeast part of Iowa along the Mississippi River and the southern border of Minnesota. The origin of Allamakee is up for debate, some say is of Indian origin and others says that it is after Allan Magee, who was know to as a trapper and trader by the Winnebago Indians. The county seat is located in the city of Waukon.
